Philippine Wedding Requirements

BASIC LEGAL REQUIREMENT

Start processing these documents four (4) months before wedding day.


  1. CENOMAR of Certificate of No Marriage requested through the PSA Helpline Hotline, PSA or NSO website, SM Centers. Prepare 3 photocopies to be submitted at the Local Civil Registry. Fee: Php 350.00 from PSA Hotling or website Php 150.00 from SM Centers

  2. BIRTH CERTIFICATE should be NSO Certified with a validity of 6 months from date of wedding. Can be requested through the PSA Helpline Hotline, PSA or NSO website, SM Centers. Prepare 3 photocopies to be submitted at the Local Civil Registry and the Church. Fee: Php 350.00 from PSA Hotling or website Php 150.00 from SM Centers

  3. CEDULA claimed at the Local Barangay Office of either the Groom or Bride’s current address. This is required by the Local Civil Registry when applying for Marriage License. Personal appearance is required. Prepare 3 photocopies to be submitted at the Local Civil Registry. Fee: depends on your annual income

  4. MARRIAGE SEMINAR CERTIFICATE. Seminars conducted at the Local Municipal Office once a week from 8:00am to 5:00pm. This certificate is required when applying for Marriage License. Personal appearance is required. Prepare 3 photocopies to be submitted at the Local Civil Registry.

  5. MARRIAGE LICENSE APPLICATION acquired from the Local Civil Registry of the current address of either the Groom or Bride valid for 120 days or 4 months. Personal appearance is required. Required Documents: Cedula, CENOMAR, Birth Certificates, 2x2 and 1x1 pictures of Bride and Groom

  6. MARRIAGE LICENSE to be claimed eleven (11) days after submission of Marriage License Application Form at the Local Civil Registry. Can be claimed by the Bride or Groom. Authorization Letter is required if another person aside from the Bride or the Groom will claim Marriage License. Fee: Php 390.00


CATHOLIC WEDDING REQUIREMENTS




  1. BAPTISMAL and CONFIRMATION certificates of Groom and Bride from the church where baptized and confirmed. To be claimed six (6) months before wedding day, with annotation FOR MARRIAGE PURPOSES ONLY to be submitted two months before the wedding. Fee: Php 50.00 / certificate

  2. CANONICAL INTERVIEW of the Groom and Bride to be conducted two months before the wedding date.

  3. Certification of attendance in the Pre-Cana Seminar. If based abroad, a Parish certification that you attended a Pre-Cana seminar in your own parish overseas.

  4. ECCLESIASTICAL (WEDDING) BANNS and PERMIT to be announced for three consecutive Sundays in the parish of the Groom and Bride (The forms will be provided and filled up during the interview). Fee: Php 300.00 for Groom’s Banns and Php 600.00 for Bride’s Banns

  5. LIST OF NAMES and ADDRESSES OF SPONSORS (Ninongs and Ninangs)

  6. CIVILLY MARRIED a certified true copy of Marriage Contract from National Statistics Office to be submitted two months before the wedding. If civil wedding done overseas, photocopy of Marriage Certificate from the country where civil wedding took place.

  7. If Bride or Groom is based abroad, a Certificate of Freedom to marry from U.S. Parish Priest.

  8. If a Military man, Certification of Free to Marry from a higher headquarter / office.

  9. Those marriages have been declared null and void must present the Document of Nullity from the competent Matrimonial Tribunal, then a letter of approval from Archdiocesan Chancery Office.


MARRIAGE between CATHOLIC and NON-CATHOLIC:


  1. A Certificate of freedom to marry from the Non-Catholic Minister or Pastor.

  2. PROMISE FOR MIXED MARRIAGE FORM to be filled up during the Interview. To be submitted to the Chancery Office for approval


MARRIAGE between FILIPINO and FOREIGNERS:

  1. Secure a form of clearance from the Chancery Office of the Archdiocese of Manila located at 121 Arzobispo St., Intramuros, Manila. Look for FE Tel. No. 527-3955 / 527-7631/36.

  2. Certificate of freedom to marry from the foreigner’s parish.

  3. Legal capacity to marry from the foreigner’s national consulate / Embassy.
